A general introduction of Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery
Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery is the only professional academic periodical of endocrine surgery in China up to now. Since its initial publication, the periodical has received great care, concern and support from multitude authors, readers and many experts, such as Qiu Fazu, Huang Zhiqiang, Wu Mengchao, Wu Xianzhong, Li Jieshou, Sun Yan, Liu Gengtao, Zheng Shusen. Based on the principle of being practical and constructive, the periodical mainly focuses on clinical practice while putting empirical studies subsidiary. Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery is dedicated to spread new ideas and emerging technologies in the field of endocrine surgery. It strives to create an excellent platform for academic research and communication and aims to become a superb periodical which can present scientific achievements and development trend in the field of endocrine surgery.
Endocrine surgery has already been in full swing in developed countries. Besides the commonly recognized pituitary gland, thyroid gland, mammary glands, thymus gland, pancreas, adrenal glands, gonads, endocrine surgery is closely connected with various clinical subjects such as diabetes mellitus complicated with fracture, acute abdomen, and uterine-incision delivery. Till now, the quick development of medical science has greatly broadened the research area of endocrine surgery. Many new ideas and operative methods are constantly emerging and need to be reported. Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery just comes into being in such a situation. Since its birth, it has dedicated to promote the development and innovation of endocrine surgery by providing an academic exchange platform.
The development of Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery falls into three phases. Phase I. Journal of Endocrine Surgery, the predecessor of Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery, was founded in Dec, 2002. It is a quarterly restricted publication, sponsored by the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Phase II. In Jan. 2007, Journal of Endocrine Surgery got its periodical number and was approved by General Administration of Press and Publication to be published in home and abroad. Journal of Endocrine Surgery is a bimonthly periodical, with Chongqing Medical University as its responsible institution and the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University as its sponsor. The editorial board of Journal of Endocrine Surgery has 141 members, with Ren Guosheng as the chairman, Yao Zhenxiang and Ren Guosheng both to be editor-in-chief. Guo Lei is the editorial director. Its periodical number is: ISSN 1673-9558,CN50-1187/R. Phase III. Nov. 24th, 2008 witnessed an important event in the history of the periodical, on which Journal of Endocrine Surgery was officially approved by General Administration of Press and Publication to change its name as Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery. It is a bimonthly periodical with 128 pages in each issue. Its periodical number is: CN 11-5807/R,ISSN 1674-6090. The responsible institution is China Association for Science and Technology, the sponsor is Chinese Medical Association, and the organizer is the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. In China It is issued by Chongqing Newspapers and Periodicals Bureau with the post issue number 78-165. In abroad it is issued by China International Book Trading Corporation with the issue number BM 552.
Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery has attracted abundant attention since its creation. From 2004, it has been included by several well-known databases in China, such as CMCC, CMCI, CBMdisc, Wanfang database and so on. The periodical includes columns such as commentary, empirical studies, clinical studies, lecture, and reviews. The content has a wide coverage, ranging from fundamental theory of endocrine surgery, empirical and clinical studies of endocrine diseases, to some special diseases and operative methods concerning endocrine surgery. The periodical has a professional and expert editorial board. There are 80 members in it and all members are well-known medical personnel in the field of endocrine surgery. Professor An Hong, Shen Wenlv, Shi De, Wu Zhengyan, Zhang Suhua, Zheng Shusen, and Zheng Zelin are the consultants of the periodical. Yao Zhenxiang, the quite celebrated endocrine expert in China, is the honorary editor-in-chief. Ren Guosheng, the famous endocrine expert as well as the director of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, takes on the position of editor-in-chief. Guo Lei, associate professor of Burn and Plastic department in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, is the managing director of the periodical.
The effort of all staff is awarded by various prizes. Sino-French Advanced Forum on Breast Cancer and Academic Seminar of Endocrine Surgery, both organized and participated by staff of Chinese Journal of Endocrine Surgery, have become important platforms for the communication and exchange of endocrine surgery both in home and abroad. The periodical has great significance in promoting academic exchange, data collection and literature accumulation of endocrine surgery. It also has great referential value for personnel engaging in clinical medicine, especially for people who are dedicated to clinical practice, teaching as well as scientific research of endocrine surgery.
