World’s First High-Difficulty Combined Interventional and Surgical Procedure for Recanalizing Main Bronchial Occlusion

Publish time:Mar 21 2025

This innovative procedure, a significant advancement within the 5D respiratory intervention system, integrates the strengths of surgical resection and bronchoscopy. It involves the surgical liberation of the main bronchus while protecting surrounding vital organs, followed by bronchoscopic scar ablation and recanalization. This method transcends the limitations of traditional interventional treatments by avoiding bleeding-induced asphyxiation, achieving precise recanalization, and preserving lung function. Consequently, patients can avoid the trauma of traditional lung resection, markedly improving respiratory function and quality of life, reducing postoperative complications, and shortening hospital stays. Pioneered by Professor GUO Shuliang’s team - the first among national outstanding physicians - this technique has drawn extensive domestic and international interest, been featured in media reports, included in the 2024 issue of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and repeatedly showcased at international conferences.
