Founded in 1997, Reproductive Medicine Center is one of the earliest institutions in China to implement assisted reproductive technology (ART) such as artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization (IVF). The center has achieved numerous milestones in reproductive medicine: in 1998, the first artificial insemination baby was born; in 1999, the first IVF baby was delivered; in 2002, the first ICSI baby was conceived; in the same year, the first successful fetal reduction was performed; and in October 2003, the first pregnancy via frozen embryo transfer (FET) was successfully achieved. Currently, the center is authorized to perform husband’s semen artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and fertility preservation. Over the past years, the center has established a comprehensive and well-regulated human assisted reproductive technology system, successfully passed national and regional health authority assessments and specialized regulatory inspections. Functioning as a multifaceted centre integrating clinical practice, education, and research, the Reproductive Medicine Center specializes in reproductive endocrine disorders and infertility treatments, as well as clinical applications of foundational research. Over the past three years, the outpatient volume has exceeded over 200,000 visits, covering not only Chongqing but also neighboring provinces such as Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Tibet. As of May 2024, over 50,000 healthy babies have been born through assisted reproductive techniques in Reproductive Medicine Center, making significant contributions to family well-being and social harmony.
