The Department of Pharmacy is part of the National Clinical Key Specialty (Clinical Pharmacy) project and is one of the first, second, and third batches of key clinical pharmacy specialties established in Chongqing. The department currently encompasses 14 sub-specialties, with areas such as parenteral and enteral nutrition, antitumor drugs, pain management medications, and immunosuppressive therapies reaching advanced levels domestically.

The department serves as a leading unit within more than 20 national and Chongqing-based academic societies and associations, with the Chongqing Pharmaceutical Society acting as the vice-chairman unit. It is also designated as the National Clinical Pharmacist Training Base, the Chongqing Pharmaceutical Affairs Quality Control Center, and is affiliated with the National Antimicrobial Drug Monitoring Network (Chongqing Branch), the Chongqing Blood Drug Concentration Monitoring Center, and the Chongqing Rational Drug Use Monitoring Center. Over the past three years, the department has been awarded more than 20 research projects, including 6 national-level projects and 2 Chongqing City Technology Innovation Special Projects. It has been awarded one second-place National Teaching Achievement Award, one first-place Chongqing Science and Technology Progress Award, and over 20 additional accolades, including the National Hospital Pharmacy Management Excellence Award, the Second Prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the China Hospital Management Award, the “Most Innovative Award” from the Hainan Medical Association, and the Chongqing Outstanding Youth Civilization Award. Additionally, the department has nurtured 3 Chongqing’s High-End Young and Mid-Aged Medical Talents.

Focusing on patient needs and clinical treatment characteristics, the department offers specialized pharmaceutical services such as prescription and medication order review, participation in treatment plan formulation, medication monitoring and evaluation, pharmaceutical outpatient services, comprehensive medication consultations.

Utilizing its Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) platform, the department implements a “one-stop” precision medication model that exemplifies best clinical practices. It has also become a joint applicant for the national key R&D program “Precision Medicine Integrated Application Demonstration System Construction”. Moreover, the department provided the Surgical Pharmacy Services by establishing the country’s first orthopedic ERAS-MDT joint consultation team. This innovative model has been promoted to more than 100 hospitals nationwide, earning the department the Second Prize of the China Medical Science and Technology Award.

The department vigorously promotes technological innovation and the translation of new technologies into clinical practice. It has established a well-developed “Smart Pharmacy” system and launched the “Pharmacist Link” remote pharmacy service brand, which has been designated as the national “Medical Institution Smart Pharmacy Standardization Construction Base”.
